2nd Grade

All 2nd graders have individual STEM digital notebooks using Seesaw! They use iPads to document their engineering projects through pictures, videos, and reflections.

​Students worked in teams of 5-7 to help Cupid unlock the box that his bow and arrows were inside... just in time for Valentine's Day! Teams worked together to find clues and solve puzzles that revealed various lock combinations. They officially "broke out" when all the locks were removed.

The PFD Challenge

Teams of engineers worked together to build a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) to help keep can man buoyant! Click here to watch some of their testing in action!

McKinley's Lookout Towers


​Engineers were given a challenge to build a lookout tower for McKinley's outdoor play area.  Their model needed to follow various criteria and constraints, allowing a teacher on recess duty to successfully stand and monitor students playing below.
